Published!

When I worked in New York I had the opportunity to work with some very talented people.  I also worked on some extraordinary projects.  These are the types of projects that get published in magazines.

The project featured on this month's cover of Westchester Cottages & Gardens Magazine was the product of a great collaboration:  I was working for the firm of Richard Henry Behr Architect; interior design by Young Huh (who got the project published); Comstock Residential Contracting completed a masterful product.  For my part, I was the architect: I designed the building and layout for this AWESOME bathroom in Scarsdale, New York.

We were contacted by the owners of the house when they decided that the original 1930s bathroom was no longer satisfactory.  The project that resulted is a 250 square foot master bathroom addition over an open porch.  The exterior details extend from the original house so that the addition is practically seemless.  Some day I will get good photos of the exterior, but the interior will have to do for now (click on the image for larger views and the text of the article).

Inside is an entirely different story where our client wanted all the natural light they could get into the space.  We opened the ceiling up to the roof and used windows on all three exterior walls.  The result is a "sunny delight" - the title of the article on the interior.  My work included the building design and details, interior layout, and most all of the construction administration.  Interior fixtures and finishes were selected by the interior designer and are the product of such distinguished labels as Waterworks and Lefroy Brooks.

The magazine, Connecticut/Westchester Cottages & Gardens, caters to the design tastes of the very affluent communities in Westchester County, New York (Scarsdale, Bedford, Rye, etc.) and southern Connecticut (Greenwich, New Canaan, etc.).  You can read the article online here ("Sunny Delight") - be sure to following the link: "Click for Image Gallery".

Thank you to Young Huh for giving credit to the work of the architect & firm that provided the great place for her awesome finish.
